Fees

FightBets takes no cut of your bets; these are the small costs that do exist, and who pays them.

The market charges a small trading fee on each bet. A few other small costs come from outside FightBets.

FightBets' fee: none

FightBets doesn't take a cut when you bet, win, sell, deposit or withdraw.

The market's trading fee

Your bets go through a real market where fans trade with each other. That market charges a small trading fee on each bet.

The fee is paid on top of your bet. Your whole bet amount buys shares, and the fee comes out of your balance next to it.

How much it is

The fee depends on your fighter's price. It's 5% of your bet times what's left to 100%:

fee = your bet × 5% × (1 − price)

Your fighter's price Fee on your bet
90% (big favorite) 0.5%
50% (coin flip) 2.5%
10% (long shot) 4.5%

So favorites cost the least, and long shots come close to 5%.

A worked example

You bet $10 on a fighter at 40%.

  1. $10 at 40¢ a share buys 25 shares.
  2. If your fighter wins, you get $25 back: $1 a share.
  3. The fee is $10 × 5% × 0.60 = $0.30, paid when you bet.
  4. Your profit is $25 − $10 − $0.30 = $14.70.

The bet takes $10.30 out of your balance in total.

What the bet slip shows

Both bet slips, on the fight page and in the quick slip, show the same numbers:

  • To win (quick slip: Potential payout): what you get back if you're right, $1 for each share.
  • The profit figure (the +$X under To win, or Net win in the quick slip): your profit with the fee already taken off.

Max keeps a little of your balance back to pay the fee. The fee is also why a $1 bet needs about $1.05 available.

Network fees

Moving money in a crypto wallet costs a small network fee, like a stamp on a letter.

What you do Who pays the network fee
Place a bet, sell, claim Covered on most accounts that signed up with email, Google or a passkey. When a wallet needs a top-up to pay for a bet, FightBets sends one. If you connected your own wallet (like MetaMask), that wallet pays.
Convert a deposit into Cash FightBets covers it in most cases.
Withdraw Covered on most accounts that signed up with email, Google or a passkey. If you connected your own wallet (like MetaMask), that wallet pays.
Move money over from Ethereum Ethereum charges its own fee, which FightBets can't always cover.

Conversion costs

If your deposit arrives in a form that needs converting (see Adding funds), the conversion runs through a swap service. You can end up with slightly less than you sent.

Costs outside FightBets

These are charged by other companies, not by us:

  • Card purchases: the payment provider shows its price before you pay.
  • Your exchange: it may charge to buy USDC, to send it, or to move money to your bank. Check its fee page.

Tip: Want to keep costs low? Send USDC on the network the deposit screen names. You skip the conversion and the Ethereum fees.
